About me

Hi, I’m Simeon
Born in the UK, lived in Asia for a few years in my early twenties then back to the UK for a few more years and now, since 2007 been living in Seattle WA.
I work in Marketing at Microsoft where I have worked for what feels like forever. Cool Job, I get to travel meet a ton of people from all over the world and while it can be a tough grind at times its a fun place to work. Oh and of course it pays the bills to keep me boating.
Married to Afra who I met while living in Taiwan, 2 kids that are no longer anywhere close to being, acting or looking like kids.

Since i was as small as I can remember I loved boats, my Dad bought a simple Dingy when I was about 12 with a 25HP outboard (way too big for the boat really) I loved it. We even took it with us to Spain for 2 weeks on Holiday and I spent everyday swimming out to it, and then flying around the coves and bays. I was in Love with boats. But didn’t own one until I moved to Seattle in 2007. In the U.K. It always seemed too far to get to the water. Too expensive for gas and I had two young kids and not a lot of money. I regret not finding a way while the kids were small but in 2007 we moved and within a few weeks of arriving I had a 17ft ski boat. It was a ‘Monterey’ Open bow with a tower for wakeboarding. We took it everywhere. To the lakes in Eastern WA. In the sound and on the local lakes. I was hooked.
Next a 27 ft cabin cruiser, also a ‘Monterey’ which was weird as there aren’t many of that brand in Seattle. It slept 4 had a shower and toilet. To me it felt like proper boating now. We could go everywhere, and we did, to the islands, all over the place. Loved the boat but it was a lemon. Everything went wrong mechanically and I spent more than I paid for her in repairs. It was a money pit.
Next a Bayliner 3587 that had an extended Hull that essentially made her a 40 footer. This was THE boat. I loved it to pieces. 3 staterooms, 2 heads, proper walk in shower, flybridge. I discovered the joy of driving a boat from up top and what an amazing view you got everywhere. An aft cabin which meant a proper walk around master bed. The boat was a dream and never ever let me down and hardly cost a penny to own. Bullet proof.

And now the 5788 we’ll I won’t share info here as that is what this blog is for innit!
But I love the boat. It’s in another world.

Cheers
Simeon
